On Sunday May 4th, residents of the Hyde area of Winchester had themselves a “Grand Day Out” as part of the Save The Rec campaign. Beautiful May weather, and the promise of home-grown-boy-done-brilliant Frank Turner judging the dog show, attracted hundreds to support the worthy cause. An afternoon of various traditional activities, such as the aforementioned (and hilariously over-subscribed) Dog Show, an enthusiastically fought tug-of-war, live music from a ukelele band, all accompanied by the comforting thwack of leather on willow. A grand day out indeed!
